Those who have lost themselves give up playing and generally become the ghouls you see wandering the halls. The winners retain their sense of self. But I am aware of a third category. I had not confirmed what became of them, but I had my suspicions.

What I've heard is that some of the guests become those statues. Not every statue is a guest, but many are, and enough that it seems that people who have been here long enough might recognize some of them from their personal encounters.
