JIGOKUCHO: EYE YOUKAI/CURSE PERMISSIONS+INFO
This is a permissions and info post specifically for the mechanic of Matoba's cursed eye! Because this curse can affect other players around him and comes with a few important rules and caveats for interacting, I want to make sure everyone has a reference and can opt in/out easily.
First, some canon background info and mechanical rules!:
Now, how does this affect you?
Within Jigoku-cho, the eye ayakashi will attack by concealing itself within others via possession and use them as vehicles to attack Matoba once a month, as in canon. Most of the time I will use NPC's to facilitate this as an open log prompt on whatever months I have one going; but the mods have also given me approval for player characters to become possessed by the ayakashi and attack every so often! The tell of possession will be a dark shadowy blot over their right eye. Image example for reference! (Other eye)
I'd like to keep this as a special-occasion thing, but I want to have this post to open up as an opt-in for people who would like to offer their characters up for possession! I will always plot out the details of this in advance of any threading, so this is more of a reference for me of who is interested, especially in case I don't have you added on plurk/discord. Without further ado:

First, some canon background info and mechanical rules!:
THE BACKGROUND:
• Here is what it looks like! Big black icky blob with eyes and a hidden toothy mouth. Its right eye is missing. It seems capable of speech in very basic words but it doesn't really seem like it has the sense of self to have a conversation.
• The curse was started because a Matoba clanhead many generations ago broke a contract with the ayakashi in which he promised his right eye as payment. Some translations make it more explicit that the ayakashi is searching for its own eye. Hmmmm.
• Whoever is currently in the position of clan head for the Matoba automatically are passed this curse- we don't know if it's by a ceremony or ritual, but I would honestly assume so- they've never explicitly ruled out that it only follows their genetic bloodline, however. Adoptive heirs or branch families may therefore be affected if they inherit.
• The death of the clan head doesn't seem to end the curse unless the eye is stolen. This is very important.
• The Matoba cannot just exorcise or seal it because their power is tied to its existence and hatred. This also means Matoba will stop anyone from killing it. Not that any 1 person can; it's ridiculously powerful.
• Perhaps most importantly to interaction: it will not attack anyone but Matoba and he will tell other characters this to deter them from getting any ideas about dealing with it themselves.
THE ATTACKS:
• The ayakashi attacks once per month, though not always around the same time.
• It gets one 'strike' at him and if it fails to obtain Matoba's right eye, it must leave again.
• It can be distracted by other things shaped like eyes, so the Matoba carry bullseye-pattern parasols to distract it.
• It is very rare, but the ayakashi can disguise itself as people Matoba knows; however they will always be missing their right eye.

Now, how does this affect you?

Any comments/info I should know: If Sheliak gets possessed it will probably latch onto his true magical self so he might become a bit feral when he's no longer tied down by foolish human emotions. Also his eyes glow when he completely embraces his magic. I will let you decide if the glow would hide the shadow over his eye from the possession or not. He wouldn't be the best choice for stealthy attack but he's a powerful mage so enjoy! Sheliak will absolutely hate being possessed. Thanks for reminding him how dangerous his magic is.
