[ The package left for Matoba at the Family Mart in Sutoku territory is a small box wrapped twice with jute and knotted at the top with a narrow, neatly folded note slid beneath. Upon unwrapping the jute and opening the box, inside he will find two small, glinting flowers made of ice crystals.
While there hadn't been any icy cool before opening the box, once it's been opened, there's the faint aura of chill—and they stay cold, enchanted as they are, to the touch even with constant handling. Not so cold as to hurt (human) hands, the temperature they keep is like touching chilled silver after being out in a hot day. Refreshing.
They're both enchanted with some kind of ward, but it isn't a traditional repellant.
His note reads as thus: ]
Master Matoba,
Since you were kind enough to share some of your charms, I wished to return the favor. Please accept this gift of flowers made out of ice crystals. I carved them myself.
If you encounter an evil spirit, cast one toward it — the spell I have cast upon them will immediately come into effect and hopefully be of some use. One will freeze whatever you have cast it at in place. The other, when crushed in your hand, will dissolve the spell.
